Spring 2020: After a nationwide search, BJEP’s Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Rabbi Myra Meskin as our new Community Director.
In this role, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, Rabbi Myra will draw on her experience to build community and lead our core Brandeis student teaching team, with increased involvement and support from Brandeis students, our parent cooperative, and BJEP’s community partners.
Rabbi Myra Meskin is a newly ordained rabbi by the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles. Myra discovered her passion for Jewish education while working at Camp Ramah in California as a counselor, educator and unit head. After graduating with a Masters in Experiential Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, she spent a year in Jerusalem studying in the Pardes Experiential Educators Program. Rabbi Myra has served as the Assistant Director of the Brandeis Collegiate Institute (BCI), a 4-week immersive summer program for Jewish young adults, and as a spiritual counselor at Beit T’Shuvah, a residential addiction treatment center. She most recently worked as the West Coast Regional Jewish Educator for Moishe House. Originally from California, she loves yoga, hiking, and singing – whether alone in the car or with friends around a Shabbat table. Rabbi Myra is excited to move to Boston with her husband Ben Gurin, also a newly ordained rabbi, by the Hebrew Union College, and an incoming PhD student at BU.
Joining us as BJEP enters our 54th year, Rabbi Myra is grateful for this opportunity, and honored that she has been selected to be our leader at this critical moment in our history. Rabbi Myra looks forward to meeting families seeking to affiliate with BJEP’s innovative Jewish learning program and to seeing you on Sunday mornings.
